What Are Dental Implants?

3d render of dental implant and crown restorationDental implants are a premium solution for replacing missing teeth. Your implant replicates the size, structure, and appearance of a healthy tooth. The post is surgically placed into your jawbone and allowed to fuse naturally. Once established, the post serves to hold a replacement tooth such as an implant-supported crown or a bridge.

Dr. Jordan often recommends dental implants to stimulate the jaw, keep a youthful appearance, and prevent other teeth from shifting. We will examine your case, and if you qualify for an implant, we refer you to an oral surgeon for the placement.

What is the Procedure for Dental Implants?

During the initial consultation and planning stage, our dentist will examine the site and look at dental images to assess the quality and quantity of your jawbone. If you need to improve your bone mass, we will refer you to an oral surgeon to see if you qualify for a bone graft or sinus lift. Once we have established that you are eligible for a dental implant, we will send you to a trusted periodontist or oral surgeon for placement.

Follow-up appointments may be necessary to check the surgical site and ensure that healing occurs properly. If you are receiving implant-supported dentures, we offer temporary dentures while your mouth heals and can also help with tissue conditioning. This involves adding soft material to the surface of the dentures and relining during the healing phase.

After the required healing period, your surgeon will assess the dental implant to determine whether it has successfully fused with the surrounding bone. Then they secure a prosthetic component (abutment) on the dental implant. This component serves to support your custom replacement tooth or crown.

High-Quality Implant-Supported Restorations in Windsor

We use dental implants to replace missing teeth and restore your smile’s function and aesthetics. Once your dental implant has healed and bonded with your jawbone, our dentist will be ready to improve your oral health using any of the following implant-supported restorations:

Dental Crowns – We can customize your dental crown to match the color and size of surrounding teeth. It is the most common implant-supported restoration we offer and is effective in replacing a single missing tooth.

Bridges – A dental bridge is an implant-supported restoration option for patients missing two or three teeth in a row. This permanent restoration holds your replacement teeth securely in place and prevents any shifting when talking or eating.

Dentures & Partials - Our dentist can recommend either a complete or partial implant-supported denture, depending on your situation. We use a full denture when all the teeth in an arch are missing and a partial denture when some natural teeth remain. Dental implants can effectively support permanent dentures to replace either the upper arch, lower arch, or both arches. Moreover, you don't need to remove implant-supported dentures when eating or sleeping. They look and feel more natural and don't slip.

All-on-4® - With the All-on-4 method, all you need is four precisely placed dental implants to restore a full upper or lower arch in your smile. All-on-4 is ideal if you have lost all your teeth, giving you a completely rejuvenated smile.

All our restorations are created in a trusted lab to achieve the highest quality and optimal results, and we can help you maintain your restoration with bi-annual exams and cleanings.
